Zinar Castle

A shelter under the building of the Complex of Mechanical Schools No. 3 on the estate Szkolny 37 is the first, made available under the Nowa Huta Underground tourist route project. The scenario is based on the theory of heritage interpretation, which assumes not only transferring knowledge, but also inspiring the recipient, referring to his personal experiences. The shelters built in the 1950s near Nowa Huta (there were over 250 of them in total) could not provide protection against the effects of a nuclear attack. They only gave them an illusory, but very desirable sense of security.

At the “State of Danger” exhibition, we can find a story about the instinctive need to hide from threats, characteristic of both animals and humans. We will also get to know the most interesting shelter structures in the world. The creators of the exhibition not only inform but also ask questions, referring to the imagination, emotions and experiences of the visitors.
