Under the surface of the Market Square between the Cloth Hall and St. several meters deep, there is a real treasury of knowledge about Krakow's past.

To discover it, all you have to do is go down to the Rynek Underground (entrance through the Cloth Hall from the side of St. Mary's Church). The establishment of the underground museum in 2005 was preceded by archaeological research, which brought many new discoveries and historic exhibits. Walking the underground tourist route In the footsteps of Krakow's European identity, we will feel the atmosphere that once prevailed in the medieval market square and discover the connections between the former Polish capital and the most important centers of trade and culture in medieval Europe. Over the centuries, the level of the Krakow market has increased significantly, so after descending into the underground, we move back several hundred years, to the times before the city was founded in 1257. In this journey in time, the imagination is supported by, among others exposed foundations of huts from the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries, brick walls of old buildings, original objects recovered during excavations or reconstructions of craft workshops, as well as modern multimedia. A special playroom and a mechanical theater called Legenda o former Kraków await the youngest.
