Błonia Krakowskie
Photo gallery 3
The history of Błonia dates back to 1162, when the wealthy nobleman of Jaksa from Miechów gave the Norbertine convent a meadow between Zwierzyniec and Łobzów.
His intention was to obtain his blessing before going on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Historically, it was a place for grazing cows.
Fortunately, Błonia was never fully built-up, and to this day it serves as a recreational area, a place of festivities, outdoor artistic shows and sports competitions. An important advantage of Błonia is also their visual aspect - they offer a beautiful view of the Old Town and, on the other hand, the hills of Krakow's mounds - Kościuszko and Piłsudski.
Błonia is one of the largest meadows in the city center in Europe. Błonia is a municipal park, entered in the register of monuments in 2000.
There are two sports clubs in their area: Zwierzyniecki Klub Sportowy and Juvenia Kraków.
