It was founded on the model of the Viennese gardens at the end of the 19th century. Before World War I, it was one of the favorite meeting places for residents. There were numerous restaurants and cafes, a concert pavilion, a bowling alley, a swimming pool, an ice rink, a cycling arena, a small zoo and a pond. During the season, a summer theater was open.
Due to the expansion of Krakow, the area of the park was reduced and the garden was largely neglected. One of the attractions of the park are the post-German air-raid shelters from the time of the war. Visiting is possible during the Night of Museums or the Days of Open Doors of Krakow Museums, or by prior arrangement by telephone.
